Many thanks for the time you and Amanda spent with me this morning explaining the
permitting process. My head was spinning when I left, but I very much appreciated your
candor and advice. Per your suggestion I have submitted an application for the transfer
of the Wetlands Permit from the previous owner. I am looking for the survey and will
start pulling together the project plan paperwork. I think I will need that regardless of
which application type you want me to submit for the permit. I will also stop all work on
the project til this all gets sorted out. Again,my apologies for being late to the game.
Here is a very rough project description to help you assess how to best proceed. Please
feel free to call me if you need any more info in the short term.
Project Description:
Applicant proposes to repair and improve wood retaining walls damaged during Sandy.
Walls are on east side of property between bulkhead and house. Retaining wall stabilizes
a tall berm. Increase height of north retaining wall to match height of south section
(approx. 40 inches). Fill eroded area behind wall with clean fill and plant native plants.
North and south walls to be connected under deck and a return would be added on north
end of the north wall.
Hope that helps you decides which type of application we should submit. I attached a
quick sketch as well. Again,thanks for walking me through all the complexities of the
process. Despite the damage we sustained during Sandy,we were lucky compared to
many. I have been doing all the work on this project myself and it's taken up a lot of
weekends for the past two years. Let me know if there is anything else I can do in the
near term.
