HomeMy WebLinkAboutLP-08/17/2021 LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING Minutes & Discussion Notes from Meeting held Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. nd This Regular Meeting was held in the Annex Executive Board Room, located on the 2 floor at Southold Town Hall Annex, 54375 Route 25 (Main Road), Southold, New York. Masks are still required for those not fully vaccinated. The public had access to view and listen to the meeting as it was happening via Zoom. If you do not have access to a computer or smartphone, there is an option to listen in via telephone. Comments from the public may not be solicited nor received without an appointment. It is expected that the Committee will enter into Executive Session* at some point after opening the Regular Meeting for the purpose of discussing applications regarding proposed acquisitions of real property where publicity would substantially affect the value thereof. The public is not allowed to attend, view, or listen to Executive Session. LPC Chairman Sam McCullough and Land Preservation Coordinator Melissa Spiro explained to Ms. Cohen that the LPC reviews potential acquisitions in Executive Session. Melissa noted that she was available during office hours to go over the process. Commencement  All “Attendees” will be dismissed from this meeting upon the Committee’s Motion to enter into Executive Session.  The meeting began at 7:05 p.m. with seven LPC members present. LPC members Anne Murray and Will Lee joined the meeting via Zoom. Committee Minutes and Administration  Acceptance of LPC meeting minutes from August 3, 2021 MOTION made by Sam McCullough, seconded by John Simicich, to accept the 8/3/2021 LPC meeting minutes. Motion carried: 4/0/3 (LPC members Anne Murray & Will Lee did not vote via Zoom; LPC member Eric Keil abstained as he did not attend the 8/3/2021 LPC meeting.)  Next Regular LPC Meeting Date The next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in the Annex Executive Board Room. This meeting may be canceled due to lack of a voting quorum. If so, the next LPC regular meeting will be held on September 14, 2021. Inquiries for Uses or Structures on Preserved Property None General Land Preservation None Land Preservation Applications & Potential Applications  EXECUTIVE SESSION MOTION made by Sam McCullough, seconded by Anne Murray, to enter into EXECUTIVE SESSION – Proposed Acquisitions of Real Property Where Publicity Would Substantially Affect the Value Thereof Motion carried: 7/0 The LPC members entered into EXECUTIVE SESSION at 7:11 p.m. Meeting locked.  Land Preservation Coordinator Melissa Spiro gave updates on inquiries, new applications, appraisals and current applications. MOTION made by Sam McCullough, seconded by Eric Keil, to end Executive Session. Motion carried: 6/0/1 (LPC member Will Lee via Zoom did not respond) EXECUTIVE SESSION ENDED at 8:51 p.m. MOTION made by Eric Keil, seconded by Anne Murray, to recommend to the Town Board the acceptance of a proposed donation of a conservation easement upon a small parcel of land in Peconic referenced in an LPC application that was discussed while in Executive Session.
