Recognizing that the house lies within 100' of the tide line, you have advised me that any exterior alterations - however minor - must be submitted to and approved by the Trustees of the Town of Southold. They will the respond by imposing conditions on the proposed work before approving it, or declaring the proposed work "NJ" or outside their jurisdiction. Consequently, in order to ensure that we comply with all steps of the proper procedures, I would like to inform you that we intend to proceed only with the interior portions of the work at this time under the building permit for which we have applied. A submission to the Trustees by the Rauches' landscape architect is planned in the near future, seeking approval for certain items of deferred maintenance in the area of plantings, tree trimming, and so on. We will frame that submission to include the minor exterior work proposed at the residence itself, to wit: alterations to the deck, window and roof replacement, and relocation of some entrance doorways on the land side of the house. In the meantime any permit you issue for what we might call "Phase I" can exclude those items. Mr. Bruno Semon Town of Southold Building Department- Re: Compliance with Trustees October 22 2003 page two of two If this arrangement is satisfactory, will you please advise me by fax or letter? Once we have resolved this issue, I believe the only remaining items you require in order to issue the building permit will be the certification of the existing septic system by a professional engineer, and submission of the energy conservation calculations under the N.Y State Building Code, to be supplied by me. Please remind me if there's anything I have overlooked. Thank you.
