Main Rd. &Youngs Ave.) G Q Telephone: 631 765-1938 Southold, NY 11971 ,. • O yUNI LOCAL WATERFRONT REVITALIZATION PROGRAM TOWN OF SOUTHOLD MEMORANDUM To- Glenn Goldsmith, President Town of Southold Board of Trustees From: Mark Terry, Assistant Town Planning Director LWRP Coordinator Date: June 9, 2021 Re: Local Waterfront Coastal Consistency Review for JAMES WEEDEN SCTM# 1000-118-2-16.1 Costello Marine Contracting Corp. on behalf of JAMES WEEDEN requests a Wetland Permit to construct 178'± of 1.5 to 2 ton rock revetment landward of the tidal wetlands boundary line; install 12" diameter fiber coir logs at base of bank; establish and perpetually maintain a 10' wide non-turf buffer along the landward edge of the rock revetment; vegetate buffer area with Cape American beach grass; and replant any disturbed plantings in the wetland area. Located: 1175 Bridge Lane, Cutchogue. SCTM# 1000-118-2-16.1 The proposed action has been reviewed to Chapter 268, Waterfront Consistency Review of the Town of Southold Town Code and the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) Policy Standards. Based upon the information provided on the LWRP Consistency Assessment Form submitted to this department, as well as the records available to me, it is my recommendation that the proposed action to construct 178'± of 1.5 to 2 ton rock revetment landward of the tidal wetlands boundary line is INCONSISTENT with the LWRP. The rate of erosion does not appear severe enough to warrant a rock revetment as the only practical design to control erosion. The proposal to install 12" diameter fiber coir logs at base of bank; establish and perpetually maintain a 10' wide non-turf buffer along the landward edge of the rock revetment; vegetate buffer area with Cape American beach grass; and replant any disturbed plantings in the wetland area is recommended as CONSISTENT. Pursuant to Chapter 268, the Board of Trustees shall consider this recommendation in preparing its written determination regarding the consistency of the proposed action.
