HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/17/2021 Town of Southold Historic Preservation Commission Work Session and Regular Meeting Minutes (Via ZOOM ) Thursday, June 17, 2021 Work Session: 3:00 pm Pre submission Conferences: (30 minutes allotted to each presentation) 1. 3:00pm- Glacier Point/Cavagnaro, represented by Brook Epperson, proposal to increase the size of the previously approved second story deck to an existing single family dwelling @ 265 Racketts Court, Orient, NY SCTM# 1000-17.-6-9.1 -Commissioners suggest an increase from two to three newel posts, the use of white- smooth textured timber tech and to include the post cap profile. -Public hearing is set for July 15, 2021. 2. 3:30pm- Tomashevski, represented by Eileen Wingate, proposed demolition of an existing accessory building & construct a new accessory garage @ 370 Tuckers Lane, Southold, NY SCTM# 1000-63.-5-5 -Commissioners agree to make a site visit before the public hearing. -Applicant will provide the commissioners with an alternate design for the barn doors. -Public hearing is set for July 15, 2021. 1 Town of Southold Historic Preservation Commission Work Session and Regular Meeting Minutes (Via ZOOM ) Thursday, June 17, 2021 Regular Meeting: 4:00 pm Attendees: Chairperson Ostroski, Vice Chairperson Surchin, Commissioner McCarthy, and Commissioner Wexler. Absent: Commissioner Santana Also present: Town Attorney John Burke and Administrative Assistant Tracey Dwyer Quorum present: Call to order: 4:05 pm Pledge of Allegiance Minutes: Approve Minutes of May 20, 2021 meeting. nd Motion to approve May 20, 2021 minutes as written, by, Commissioner McCarthy, 2 by, Commissioner Wexler, AYES, Ostroski, Surchin, McCarthy, and Wexler. Absent: Commissioner Santana Motion Approved Monthly budget report: Regular monthly expenses. A copy was distributed to all Commissioners. 2 Public Hearings: 4:07 pm: Dzama, represented by Jennifer Del Vaglio @ 7760 Main Bayview Rd, Southold, NY, 11971. AKA 1620 Koke Drive, Southold, NY Proposed pool fence to an existing single family dwelling. SCTM# 1000-87.-5-19.3 -Proposal included the installation of a 6’ fence with 1x1 black wire mesh and wood posts along with the addition use of a code compliant 4’ decorative fence as applied for. -No public comment. Motion to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for the two fence styles as applied for, by, nd Commissioner McCarthy, 2 by, Commissioner Wexler, AYES: Ostroski, Surchin, McCarthy, and Wexler Absent: Commissioner Santana. Motion approved. 4:35 pm: Markarian, proposed alteration from standard awnings to mechanical hand crank awnings @ 1100 Village Lane, Orient, NY SCTM# 1000-25-1-19 -Janet Markarian explained the history of awnings in the community. -Public Comment supported the proposal. Motion to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for the awning installation as applied for, by, nd Commissioner McCarthy, 2 by, Commissioner Wexler, AYES: Ostroski, Surchin, McCarthy, and Wexler Absent: Commissioner Santana. Motion approved. 3 Old Business: - A schedule of duties is continually being implemented to expedite HPC updates and postings to the Town Website. (Tracey Dwyer) - A date is being determined to host an Orient focused Preservation Program for OA and OHS. (Ostroski). - Traveler’s Street Affordable House project is still undergoing design changes. - Asch property award (Anne Surchin & Tracey Dwyer). - Presentation of restored Landmark plaque to the Murphy home @ 225 Hortons Lane, date to be determined. New Business: Motion to enter Executive Session at 4:49 pm Meeting Adjourn at 5:10 pm. Next HPC Zoom Work Session and Meeting scheduled for 3:00pm on Thursday, July 15, 2021. 4
