We cancelled this charity ride in 2020 — it would have taken place right when the pandemic started, when no WE RIDE FOR PIE one knew yet what we were facing or how to keep safe. We are looking forward to coming back in 2021, and I THE BLESSING OF THE BICYCLES think everyone is ready to get out of the house and take May 2, 2020 some small steps toward regaining our lives. THE NORTH FORK CENTURY Here are just a few items that help keep this event safe: May 22, 2021 • We are never inside for this event. THE FARM RIDE • We do not do a mass start—we don't say, "Ready, set, June 11-13, 2021 Sign up for 1, 2, or all 3 days go!" This is on purpose—that would only encourage racing behavior, and we are definitely not a race. We are PEDAL NYC slow-moving, family-friendly ride. August 22, 2021 A mass start would also have a crowd gathered at the BIKE BALI finish line, and we don't want a crowd anywhere. September 20-28, 2021 Instead people check in over an hour-and-a-half period and pedal when they are ready—departing in small MIAMI TO KEY WEST groups. December 11-16, 2021 • We want everyone spread out, six feet apart. Anytime the participants are off the bike, masks will be mandatory, and we'll be taking all the appropriate precautions -- hand sanitizer, extra food safety.... We understand that there are lots of opinions on COVID safety, but we prefer to err on the side of caution. We are ready to come back to The Fork to support local merchants and raise money for a great cause. If we can answer questions or assist in any way, please don't hesitate to contact us —we welcome your input. I have no concerns of how they regulate traffic within the State Park, but I would remind the organizers that the "controller" cannot direct traffic on State Rt. 25 in front of the park at any time.
