Purpose. The purpose of this local law is to improve safety for pedestrians and vehicles, as well as dealing with impacts to the public's health, safety and welfare. II. Chapter 260 of the Code of the Town of Southold is hereby amended by removing the struck through portions and adding the underlined portions as follows: Article IV Vehicle Traffic § 260-26 Restricted vehicle traffic. A. Purpose. The Town Board of the Town of Southold finds that, with the increasing development and population of the Town of Southold, transportation activities are increasing and impacting the local streets. Regulation of vehicle usage on local streets is necessary so as to provide for the safety and welfare of the Town's citizens and for the orderly flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on busy local streets. There are numerous other alternate local streets linking state and highways in the area. B. Vehicles, trucks, tractors, tractor-trailer combinations, tractor-semitrailer combinations or tractor- (If additional space is needed, attach pages the same size as this sheet, and number each.) DOS-239-f-1(Rev.04/14) 1 trailer-semitrailer combinations in excess of a registered weight of 8,000 pounds are prohibited from traveling upon the following streets. Amendments to Chapter 260, Peconic Bay Boulevard May 18, 2021 page 3 COUNCILMAN GHOSIO: I think we discussed this during the work session when we decided to do this, it is supported very much by the folks on Peconic Bay Boulevard. COUNCILWOMAN NAPPA: I agree. I think this is one step in the right direction to helping out the people that are living on Peconic Bay Boulevard, to get some relief from the traffic and one step in the right direction and hopefully we can come up with some other solutions as well. The purpose of this local law is to improve safety for pedestrians and vehicles, as well as dealing with impacts to the public's health, safety and welfare. II.
