The renovations will not result in an increase in the number of bedrooms,but as part of developing the design that will be filed with the Boards of Zoning Appeals and Trustees, the applicants are considering replacement of the existing conventional septic system with an UA OWTS. And while asking either Board whether they would prefer to see such an upgrade would typically be rhetorical, we are interested in hearing the Trustees' pre-application feedback in this case due to the uniqueness of the site. Specifically, as indicated on the enclosed draft site plan, the existing septic system is located approximately 82 feet from the seaward face of the bulkhead adjacent to Orient Harbor, but due to the various constraints associated with the relocation and expansion of the house, the UA system would need to be located closer to the waterway, with a minimum bulkhead setback of 52 feet to the future expansion galleys. Therefore, our question to the Trustees is whether the Board would prefer to see the existing nonconforming system left in place or replaced with an UA system located despite its closer proximity to the waterway. Thus, please accept this letter along with the enclosed conceptual site plan; agent authorization forms; owner affidavits; and check for $50 payable to the Southold Town Trustees as a request for a pre- submission site inspection by the entire Board of Trustees. Of course, if the Board feels it can respond without physically seeing the site,please let us know.
