HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/24/2021 SOUTHOLD TOWN TREE COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING March 24, 2021 HELD VIA ZOOM 7:00 PM Present: Gerard Orientale, Jay Jansen, Peter Burr, Frank Imbriano, Don Grimm This Regular Meeting of the Southold Town Tree Committee was called to order at 7:06 PM via the Zoom platform. Discussion Items: Gerard opened the meeting up by sending a thank you out to Peggy who had reached out to all of the schools that usually participate in Arbor Day to coordinate the dropping off of the seedlings, etc. for the upcoming date in April for Arbor Day. The Committee then discussed that the schools would like that the seedling bags are sanitized and re-packaged prior to distribution. It was then discussed how we would properly handle the sanitization by laying out the seedlings and spraying. More discussion was had with regard to comments on the proposed Tree Code. Gerard took notes so that we can compile and send to Town Attorney. Peter Burr wonders how the code would be enforced on Fishers Island. Committee discussed who would actually be the "enforcers" of the Code and if the responsibility would lie upon the Building Inspectors. Discussion was had with regard to the tree on Bay Road and the need to evaluate it, and possibly move it. Jay would like to revisit the idea that had been presented by Jill previously to plant a tree and have a plaque in honor of the "First Responders" of the COVID pandemic. Jay also discussed the problems with some of the past Fall plantings and will keep an eye on them for possible replants. We will have Mark Schill plant new oak at Tasker and maybe replace dog park tree. We will next meet on April 14, 2021 —Via Zoom Platform This meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Diane DiSalvo
