My property, 8095 Soundview Avenue,Southold, is located on Great Pond. I haven't yet been able to replant the area where the Japanese knotweed had been as I am still removing small knotweed plants/runners/shoots and am researching native "deer-proof" replacement plants. In the Fall of 2019, the knotweed was cut down by hand/removed and black landscaping tarp was placed over the area and covered with wood chips. When the trustees originally visited the site, I believe one of the trustees recommended planting grass. He said that any "stray" knotweed would then be able to be mowed and could be kept in check. I would like to plant grass in that area but wanted to check with the Trustees before I had any work done. Would you let me know if I can proceed with planting grass. Please note that the area of my yard closest to the water (Great Pond), did not have knotweed. It did have phragmites, which were cut back as part of the Great Pond restoration project. For this area, I . 1 worked with Group for the East End to put in some approved plants in addition to some native plants that came back when the phragmites were removed. If you need any additional information, please let me know. Thanks so much for your help. Rosemary Schneider ATTENTION: This email came from an external source.
