Anti-Bias Task Force Committee

Approval of Minutes
A. Motion made by Dr. Schultz to approve the minutes from January 11, 2021 It was second
by Ms. Spar. 7 yes - 0 no
Discussion on articles put in the paper
A. Motion was made by Ms. Spar if a member writes an article on behalf of the Anti-Bias
Task Force and if the article is approved by all members with it's necessary changes. Such
an article will be submitted to the media on behalf of the ABTF under the name of the
person who drafted the article. Second by Shelby . 7 yes - 0 no
Southold Town Justice Reform
A Ms. Spar has reported that the SCJRR task force is working on the final report
Statistics on how many minorities are hired by Southold town
A. Mr. North said he would like to take a look at the Southold Town statistics on the hiring
report to see the statistics was on race
B. Discussion followed that we should also work on the seminars for the civil service test
twice a year once in October once in April.
Notifying the schools about scholarships
A. The letter informing them about the scholarship will get out shortly.
Collaboration with Riverhead ABTF on Synergy
A. Mr. North said he had a meeting with the Riverhead Anti-bias task force in regards to
synergy . He was part of the conversation with Professor James Banks, chairperson,
Southampton Anti-Bias Task Force. We agreed to work together to help them with the
synergy project.
B. There was a motion made by Ms, Shelby to allow Christopher North to use flyers of
Synergy to help the Riverhead task force. Second by Spar 7 yes - 0 no
C. Mr.North agreed to create a Best Practices document to help the Riverhead task force in
regards to synergy
Youth department report
No Report
Police Department
A. Ms Spar reported that in the Cutchogue King Kullen there were flyers left on people's
cars with language that was confrontational and aimed to create a division between locals
and newcomers. . Chief Martin Flatley was aware of the flyer and has been investigating
the situation.
