Discussion Items:
Prom Dress Giveaway- Currently underway, girls can make individual appointments to try on
our inventory of dresses at the Peconic Community Center. Can contact Lynn to make individual
appointments. Flyer will be shared again with board.
Virtual Job Fair- Lynn Nyilas and Nicole Helf are currently working on a Google site that will
house local businesses looking for employment. We anticipate it being completed within the next
few weeks. A link will be shared with the local schools as well as the town’s website and social
media sites for our youth to access. We hope to grow this site in the future and feature different
pages for high students as well as recent graduates featuring job opportunities appropriate for the
varied age groups. If you are aware of businesses in need of help, Lynn mentioned to contact the
Youth Bureau and the post will be added. Lynn will contact the Southold Mother’s Club to
inquire about a contact person for possible babysitting opportunities.
Summer Programs-As of now, it is unknown based on NYS requirements what in person
programming will be allowed. Planning on baseball clinic with the Hampton Collegiate Baseball
league as in year’s past if Covid restrictions allow the Youth Bureau to do this.
Beach clean-ups was another activity suggested.
Two Drive-In movies have been scheduled for Strawberry Field in Mattituck for July and
August. Sergeant Simmons will inquire if the Strawberry Festival will take place this year. The
Strawberry Queen contest has already been scheduled.
Youth Court Updates-In person Training for our Volunteers has started up again in Town Hall.
We were approved to do so, since it is a static group and small group that can easily socially
distance. We have a new volunteer, who is a retired judge that is assisting with trainings.
Sergeant Simmons will also be attending our trainings to lend his expertise. We will have an
upcoming swearing in of new volunteers, and an invite will be sent once confirmed.
