HomeMy WebLinkAboutSchulz, Greg Cantrell, Elizabeth From: L <xyanbuffalo@yahoo.com> Sent: Monday, December 9, 2019 7:10 AM To: Cantrell, Elizabeth Subject: [SPAM] - Oak Drive damage concerns My family has owned 465 Oak Drive in Cutchogue for over 50 years and I am greatly pained by destruction new homebuilder caused on property he does not legally own. The cutting down trees undermines the stability of marsh bank and could cause erosion under road. I think the more desturbing issue is total lack of respect for laws and violating neighbors personal spaces Why is his fence allowed to be put up smooth side facing his house when others have to obey rules and put smooth side out? Broadwaters Cove has a community association. Neighbors work together to make the community a safe welcoming place for all. It is unacceptable to me to have a flagrant rule breaker-cutting trees on someone else's (Town and private property) not face consequences for his actions. If one wants a property with waterfront views then purchase one do not cut your neighbors trees and bushes to make one. Thank you, Lisa Cramer 465 Oak Drive Cutchogue NY I am currently upstate and can be reached at 607-296-7879 1 Cantrell, Elizabeth From: freddy markham <ftm2@me.com> Sent: Saturday, December 7, 2019 11:01 AM To: Cantrell, Elizabeth Subject: Monday Meeting with George Shultz - Oak Drive Cutchogue Good morning Liz, Its my understanding that there is a meeting Monday(12/9)with George Shultz who has built a new home in the Broadwaters Cove Neighborhood, which is where I live.As you know, I have lived on Mason Drive since the 80's and have yet to witness by anyone do what he has done.Having done permit expediting, and have been real estate agent for past 10 years, I have witnessed the explosion of building ongoing on in our Town. Most of the building has been done with the proper permits and with respect for our delicate environments. However,George Shultz arrived with more than his fair share of arrogance and exercised it with a total careless planned execution as well as multiple issues with the Building Department along the way. From whence he purchased the parcel he has now built on,he cleared without any consideration or permissions. Not only did he clear his lot, but took it upon himself to clear trees and shrubs on 2 neighbors lots simply to improve his view. He has had multiple confrontations with several of the abutters. It is my understanding that he has been ordered to re-plant only part of the clearing he has done that was not on his property. He also seems to think that the typical "tree-lawn" is his for the taking. I am simply writing you today to lend a more complete understanding his"its mine"and I can do whatever I want attitude! Mr. Shultz is clearly one of the few who break the law and pay the fine or not asking for permission, and expecting forgiveness. I believe he should be fined to the maximum possible, besides ordered to re-plant what he has removed or killed with Roundup or the like. So far he is not a good neighbor! Please share with your Trustees before your meeting today. Best,Freddy Markham 875 Mason Drive,Cutchogue ATTENTION: This email came from an external source. That area has been the subject, since October/November, 2014, on the wetlands, of cut trees, bushes and various other plants. This occurred concurrently when Schulz was cutting on his own property, received a `stop work order' because he had no permit. A similar trespass and wetlands cutting occurred in May, 2019. During this summer, 2019, various neighbors observed that , again on the same corner of Oak Drive and Hickory Drive, across the street from 1040 Oak Drive, owned by Gregory Schulz, that a large area of fragmites were dead and looked "burned". The Bay Constable was called and he filed a report. (Officer O'Leary had also been called in 2014 when the first cutting had occurred.) This last damage was brought up at the hearing, but there was no direct response that evening to that concern of what caused the fragmites to "burn", and if testing of that area is being considered. I am disturbed that such terrible damage to the wetlands has occurred, and that it remains in terrible condition. That corner now has excessive drainage and pooling, especially during storms. Adding to the flooding was runoff from the Schulz property when the sprinklers were working. Thank you for your efforts in investigating these events. I look forward to the full restoration of that area, and receiving a reply at your earliest convenience. Best regards , Elizabeth Downs 1835 Mason Drive Cutchogue i Cantrell, Elizabeth From: branker <claudiabranker@optonline:net> Sent: Friday, December 6, 2019 1:25 PM To: Cantrell, Elizabeth Subject: Broadwaters cove, Cutchogue To the Southold town trustees, My name is Claudia Branker and I am contacting you about the illegal removal and destruction of vegetation by Gregory Schulz. The property is on the corner of Hickory and Oak in Broadwaters Cove, Cutchogue. On October 16th 2019 there was a trustees meeting at the town hall, attended by Mr. Schulz and several neighbors, myself included. Mr. Schulz proposed a paltry and insulting restoration remedy that was rejected by the trustees. The reason for this email is to respectfully remind the trustees about the apparent lethal herbicide that was dumped all over the vegetation in addition to the chopping down of mature trees. I am concerned about the leaching of the poison into the marshland as well as the permanent damage to the soil which would prevent any new vegetation from thriving. I'am asking for your consideration to have soil samples taken and tested. I am not versed in environmental science and rely on the expertise of the board of trustees to determine the correct type of tests. I do not believe the tax payers should bear the expense of these tests and the responsibility falls directly on Mr. Schultz. It was an appalling display of arrogance by Mr. Schultz and the disregard he shows for the environment is beyond the pale. Thank you for your time and service. Claudia Branker and Family.
