Subject: North Fork Country Club -Tree Removal Request
Attachments: NFCC_Tree Removal.pdf
Hello Diane,
Thank you for taking the time to speak with me earlier today.
As discussed, North Fork CC would welcome a visit by a representative of the Town. The purpose would be to look at a
tree on our 15th hole which has been identified by our tree expert Shamrock Tree Company(attached). The tree in
questions is within 100'of the wetlands however there is a concern of safety and protection of our members and
property as this tree has decay and codominant leaders which Shamrock as indicated are prone to failure.
Please advise-the day and-time a Town representative will be able to visit as we wish to have a North Fork CC
representative present to answer any questions.
The address of North Fork Country Club is 26342 Main Road, Cutchogue, NY 11935.
We are available next week if that works.
Kind regards,
Scott Osler

To whom it may concern,
I,.Jondthan M. Shipman, owner of Shamrock Tree Co. and Board-Certified Master Arborist
inspected a large oak tree as well as the trees immediately surrounding it nearest'the 15th tee
along the creek for the North Fork Country Club. These trees are within 100' of the wetlands.
The Large black oak has codominant stems as well as a large limb originating from the trunk at
the same location.Codominant leaders are prone to failure due to the weak attachment
created. Also, just below were these originate is visible decay on the West side of the trunk just
below the unions. An already weak attachment complicated by decay below has the possibility
of failure. This area has frequent targets below it, both persons and property. The size of the
leaders and limb, if a failure'takes place, could result in significant property damage, serious
injury to persons, and very possibly`loss of life. Removal of the black oak would eliminate this
risk. Also, there are large dead'limbs in the nearby trees that cause a similar risk. I recommend
these trees be"risk reduction" pruned eliminating dead, cracked, hanging, and diseased limbs
from the canopy in order to reduce risk to persons and property. Any questions please feel
free to call my office at(631) 298-2175.
