My client purchased the property in 2018 and relied on the existing Certificate of Occupancy. Last fall, following the adoption of the new requirement, my client applied for a rental permit. An inspection was made on November 19, and the inspector said that the prior owner had updated the electric service panel and installed central air conditioning without obtaining a building permit or electrical certificate. A copy of the inspection report is attached. Since that date I have been trying to arrange for an electrical inspection by your Department. I had several questions regarding the forms I needed to fill out.I have made several unsuccessful attempts to contact your department by telephone and email. I stopped in person at your office yesterday and was told by one of the clerks in the Supervisor's office who happened to be passing by that I could only see a building inspector by prior appointment. I realize that, like everyone else, your Department has been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. My client would nevertheless like to obtain a rental permit so that he can do a year-round rental starting in September. Without knowing exactly how much information you will need to perform the electrical inspection and issue an updated Certificate of Occupancy I am enclosing the following: 1. Application for Electrical Inspection [The work was done by a prior owner, and I have filled out the application as best I can from the information available to me.] 2.
