Box 1288 Cutchogue, NY 11935 RE: 910 & 875,FLEETWOOD ROAD, CUTCHOGUE , SCTM#: 1000-137-4-22 Dear Ms. D,unhuber: , In response to your letter sent with email of MacKenzie Bernhard dated August 3, 2020, and subsequent a mail of John Bernhard,dated August 7, 2020, the Board of Trustees reviewed the request to trim--selected branches from trees depicted in photographs provided and the request to completely remove one tree located-on your property and as reviewed by Trustee A. Nicholas Krupski on August 11, 2020. The Board of Trustees determined that the requested trees, may be trimmed at this time and that the tree (shown as picture 3 located between the two houses) may be removed. No permit will be required in order to trim trees as shown in photographs provided and remove one tree as indicated. Any other activity within 100' of the wetland boundary requires a permit from this office. This is not a determination from any other agency. If you have any questions, please call our office at (631) 765-1892. Cut Limb#1 Potential Cut#2 Street side cut(s) at 875 Comments: Limb#1 clearly overhangs the home, its removal is requested on that basis. Based upon a street level inspection of this tree, it appears that the top has been broken in a prior storm or other event. Note that the large diameter trunk appears to abruptly stop, and small leafy shoots appear where a much larger limb would normally be expected: this is not clear in the photo but may be readily observed on site. Inasmuch as breaks leave jagged edges that pool water and eventually become an avenue for rot and insects, I propose that the arborist carefully inspect the top (in a bucket truck) for evidence of decay or insects and if found execute potential cut#2. Location:835 and 875 Fleetwood Road, Cutchogue, NY 11935. This property is owned by me. Basis for request: Permission to trim/cut trees shown in the attachments is requested to improve the safety of the aforesaid dwellings, both of which are occupied. The tree/limbs planned for removal fall into one of three categories:the limbs overhang a dwelling;the size and orientation of the limbs are such that if they were to fall they would strike the adjacent dwelling, or they are interfering with the utility lines.The limbs in question and proposed cuts are discussed on an individual basis in the attachments. Permission is granted for Trustees to enter the aforementioned properties for purposes of assessing this request. This may be readily verified by comparing the height of the left and right sides. The right side is substantially shorter. This is an avenue for water to collect and rot to start with the inevitable collection of insects to follow.
