Housing Advisory Commission
Date September 22, 2020
To: Supervisor Scott Russell and members of the Southold Town Council
Re: Proposed affordable housing district located at 2050 Depot Lane,
Cutchogue, NY
Dear Supervisor Russell and members of the Southold Town Council.
thth
The Housing Advisory Commission (HAC) met on July 9 and August 6
and heard presentations on the proposed affordable housing project and
approval of an Affordable Housing District for the parcel located at 2050
th
Depot Lane, Cutchogue, NY. At the August 6 meeting, the applicant, Mr.
William Goggins, appeared via zoom to present the application.
The Affordable Housing Advisory Commission recommends the
Southold Town Board approve the proposed Affordable Housing District. The
parcel and proposed project meets the criteria in the Southold Town code and
the proposed Southold Town Comprehensive plan. Affordable Housing is
needed in the Hamlet of Cutchogue and these 16 units will be a benefit to the
community.
The development of affordable housing is a public need and the
applicant is not applying for any government grants. In addition to
recommending the approval of the Affordable Housing District the Affordable
Housing Advisory Commission recommends the Town Board waive the town’s
fee for the sanitary flow credits the applicant is applying to be transferred to
his property as well as any building department or planning board application
fees which may apply.
