Work Session Meeting Minutes

Pre submission Conferences:
(30 minutes allotted to each presentation)
1. Papantonio, represented by Constantine Rigas, Proposed window replacements, cedar
shingles and asphalt garage roof.

-Applicant will use Marvin Ultimate double hung 2 over 2 all wood windows to
replace 6 existing windows on the house.
-Garage doors and windows will be restored as is and new cedar shingles will be
installed in kind on the garage exterior.
-Applicant requested to replace the garage tin/metal roof with asphalt.
-Commissioners recommended replacing the tin/metal garage roof in kind with a
new tin/metal roof.
2. Amnon Bar-Tur, represented by David Kriegel, Proposed alteration to an existing garage.
170 Bay Lane, Orient, NY
SCTM# 1000-24.-2-26.4
-Applicant will be shifting the house approximately an additional 6 1/2 feet from the
NW property line to provide room for a driveway.
-The new foundation will be raised in elevation to be flood compliant with a crawl
space and concrete rat slab.
-Project will include the demolition of the existing 260 square foot accessory and then
building a 450 square foot addition with dormer to the back of the original dwelling.
-Mr. Kriegel also described that the front windows of the dwelling would be
6 over 1 with lower sill lines.
-Other proposed details include a wraparound porch, stone tier retaining walls, a
stone chimney with metal flue, trellis and outdoor shower.
-Commissioners felt the design presented by Mr. Kriegel did not match with the
street scape and varied a great deal from the 1900-1920 Bay Cottage that the current
home represents.
-Commissioners recommended keeping the original style of the front porch opposed
to the new wrap around design.
-Applicant and Commissioners agree to schedule another pre-submission conference.
3. Ramone, represented by Martin Finnegan: Proposed addition and alterations.

-Architect slightly lowered the roof line of the addition as recommended by
by commissioners at previous pre-submission conference.
-Applicant proposed the use of Anderson A series 6 over 1 in kind replacement
windows.
-Commissioners recommended the use of 6 over 6 windows with a smaller mutton
size of 3/4ths inch.
-The exterior shingles were proposed to be changed to red cedar shingles.
-Commissioners suggested looking into using clapboard on the exterior instead of
cedar shingles.
-Applicant and Commissioners agree to move forward and schedule a public hearing.
Additional Topics:
1. Commissioners discussed upcoming meeting dates.
2. Commissioners agreed to move forward on the prop osed code change to include
jurisdiction of the new construction of any structure on a site previously
occupied by a landmark designated as “historic” pursuant to § 170-5
of this chapter.
3. Commissioners agreed that a work session should be set up in the near future to discuss
additional changes to code 170.
