RE: 600 ROBINSON ROAD, GREENPORT
SCTM#: 1000-34-5-16
Dear Ms. Melrose:
In response to your letter dated August 20, 2019, the Board of Trustees reviewed your
request to cut down the dead birch tree located near the dock on the above mentioned
property, and to trim the adjacent birch trees, which trees were seen by Trustee John
Bredemeyer on August 22, 2019.
The Board of Trustees determined that the dead birch tree may be removed at this time
and that the adjacent birch trees may be pruned. No permit will be required in order to
remove the dead tree and to trim others.
Any other activity within 100' of the wetland boundary requires a permit from this office.
This is not a determination from any other agency.
If you have any questions, please call our office at (631) 765-1892.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Domino

Subject: Take down dead tree near the water
Board of Trustees,
I have one dead birch tree and a few big branches that hang over my dock. I have already had some branches fall. I am concerned
that more will fall especially as we get closer to,hurricane season and nor'easters. One branch fell a month ago just missing people in
my yard. It is a dangerous situation.
The first photo is the lower part of the dead birch tree. The second is the top of the dead tree. The third is of branches that overhang
the dock.....the trunks of these trees are 4-6 ft beyond the left side of the photo,so the are hanging way out.
Because we have had so much rain this year, the leaves are very thick and heavy causing the branches to lean even more than ever.
I am looking to get permission to remove the dead tree and trim back the hanging branches before they break off causing damage or
hurting someone.
