Greene and Lomas: Pursuant to your email request to remove trees on your property in Orient while the Trustee Office is closed under emergency order, three trees suitable for removal were inspected today, 4-21-20 at 11:30 AM, by me and Mike Johnson, of Johnson Tree Company, who paint-marked them: From left to right in front the Crab Shack: 1) One Dead twin Black Locust(invasive), 2) One Twin Norway Maple endangering the catwalk(invasive), 3) One Twin dying Black Locust endangering the catwalk (invasive). I have taken photos of these trees for the Trustee Office hard copy record, unsure they will transmit in this email due to their size. The Mature Mulberrv(, , ,, rked) contacting the catwalk may be judiciously pruned to protect the catwalk and passersby thereon. Its removal is not permitted at this time as it is healthy and has wetland-specific beneficial wildlife values. Its removal could only be considered under the provisions of a wetland permit application under review by the entire Board of Trustees. This email permission letter, mirroring a typical "Tree Letter" ordinarily issued administratively through the Tru3tee Office after inspection by the area Trustee, should be maintained by you and a copy presented to Mr. Johnson to possess during all tree removal activities. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, John Bredemeyer, Southold Town Trustee, Orient Area CC: Damon Hagan, Asst. The heavy winds of the storm last week only exacerbated the situation. It is my understanding after talking with you earlier today that high winds and a gale warning are forecast for tonight and that approval of tree removal for individual trees at r4jor domaging private property is ordinarily an administrative function of the Trustee Office upon written request which is not possible now as the office is closed under emergency order. I understand that the approval of a "Tree Letter" is only granted in writing upon satisfactory inspection of the offending trees by the area Trustee, which is yourself for the Orient area. On account of the emergency closure of Town Hall, by copy of this email I respectfully request this email serve as a "Tree Letter" for the inspection and removal of four Locust trees in front of the Crab Shack endangering the Crab Shack. Thank you very much. Cordially, Beverley Greene P. 0.
