Re: Request for permit to build a garage as shown on accompanying sketch.
Lot #141 and ½ of lot #142, Map A, Nassau Point, Cutchogue, N.Y.
Dear sir:
A permit is requested to construct an unettached garage on the above-
described property.
As the sketch shows, the eastern extent of the structure will be about
190 feet from Nassau Point Road, the front of our property. The northern
extent will be t0 feet from the northern boundary. The southern extent
of our house is 20 feet from the boundary with adjacent lot #140.
It is anticipated that this will be a single story structure with a
small workshop area to the west. The finish and design of the structure
will be consistent with those of our house.
Please inform me of your decision. If it should be an adverse one,
please inform me of any problems that exist.

Dear Dr. Behrer:
This is in reply to your letter of 6/7/84. Please excuse
the delay. The summer months are our busiest time~ and it takes
longer than we would like to help everyone.
A building permit could not be issued for the proposed
location without a variance because accessory buildings are
permitted in the rear-yard only. According to the tax map
designation of your lot (copy enclosed), you have two front-
yards and no rear-yard. {Unfortunately that is the Town Code's
interpretation of this situation.) The proposed setbacks
should not be a problem because minimum setbacks for accessory
structures are three feet.
The first step for a variance is for you to submit a
building permit application. Please give us a sketch of the lot
which indicates the proposed location of the shed. The Building
Inspector can then ~ssue a Notice of Disapproval. At that point
you can apply for a variance.
The building permit application and variance forms are
enclosed.
If the variance is granted, a building permit may be issued.
The Inspector would need building plans, (3 sets) so he could
review the construction proposals.

APPLICATION FOR BUILDING PERMIT
INSTRUCTIONS
a. This application must be completely filled in by typewriter or in ink and submitted in duplicate to the Building
Inspector.
b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relationship to adioining premises or public streets
or areas, and giving a detailed description of layout of property must be drawn on the diagram which is part of this location.
c. The work covered by this application may not be commenced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issue a Building Permit to the applicant. Such
permit shall be kept on the premises avaibbie for inspection throughout the progress of the work.
e. No building shall be occupied or used in whole or in part for any purpose whatever until a Certificate of Occupancy
shall have been granted by the Building Inspector.
APPLICATION IS HEREBY MADE to the Building Department for the issuance of a Building Permit pursuant to the
Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, and other applicable Laws, Ordinances or
Regulations, for the construction of buildings, additions or alterations, or for removal or demolition, as herein described.
