Deer Management Task Force Committee
TOWN OF SOUTHOLD
MINUTES
September 10, 2019
6:30 P.M.
Southold Town Hall Annex Board Room
A meeting of the Deer Management Task Force Committee was held Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the
Town Hall Annex Board Room, Youngs Avenue, Southold.
Present were: Members: Craig Jobes, Dave Dominy, Jeff Standish, John Rasweiler, Adam West, John Haas,
John Scaramucci and Nancy Foote
Call to order: Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Craig Jobes at 6:30 PM.
Craig reported on private properties that will have hunters assigned to them for hunting. Individual private
properties were reviewed, confirming that permission had been granted for each spot. Discussion followed.
Craig will put property owners in touch with individual hunters. Hunters and property owners will work out the
details between them.
Brushes Creek and Carroll Ave properties will be added to the 2019/2020 hunting season.
Deer donations will continue as in past seasons. Unfortunately certain butchers are no longer providing services
for individuals to have a deer processed. Deer could possibly be dropped to Fish & Wildlife Unlimited for
individuals for butchering and the individual can pay the processor directly and arrange pick up. DPW
currently delivers donated deer to facility on a regular basis during the hunting season. There is also a list of
processors on the NYS website for consideration.
Craig is looking into grant money to upgrade cooler facilities. Grant money may also be used to butcher
harvested deer and return to Town for distribution on North Fork.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 PM. No future meeting was scheduled at this time.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Foote
Deer Management Task Force Committee
