TOWN OF SOUTHOLD
RECREATION DEPARTMENT
Monthly Report: November 2019
WINTER 2020 BROCHURES:
th
The brochure was an insert in the November 21 edition of the Suffolk Times. I delivered it
throughout the town to local delis, grocery stores and libraries. In addition, the programs are posted
on the online registration portal.
The company that we contract with for our registration system made several updates that have had a
negative impact on the ability of community members to log-in to their account. They have also been
slow to resolve other requests that we have made of them. In an order to address these issues,
Lloyd Reisenberg and I will be conferencing them in the upcoming weeks.
WINTER 2020 PROGRAMS:
The Recreation Department and Youth Bureau are pleased to announce that we will be running a
series of Youth Drop-In Nights this winter. This program is geared towards grades 6 through 9 and
will be free to attend. Snacks will be available for purchase. Youth can participate in billiards, ping-
pong, corn hole in addition to board games and arts & crafts. Through the use of volunteers from
youth serving organizations in our community, this program is seen as a wonderful opportunity for
collaboration, outreach, and will allow us to build relationships with our younger population. A signed
permission slip is all that is required to attend.
Area children can drop off their Christmas lists to Santa’s Mailbox located in the Recreation Center.
Letters will be collected through Friday, December 13th. The Homemakers Club will be working with
the Recreation Department to make sure that each reply is special. Don’t forget to mark your
calendar for Saturday, December 7th, when Santa makes his annual visit to Town Hall.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH:
We continue to send out regular email blasts through Constant Contact promoting the Recreation
Department programs. The Recreation Department also posts fliers and announcements regularly on
our Facebook page.
RECREATION DEPARTMENT DEPOSITS & EXPENDITURES: Following are copies of our monthly
bank statement. Please note that any withdrawals on the bank statement are program refunds for
those participants who paid with a credit card.
Sincerely,
Janet Douglass
