HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/2019 TOWN OF SOUTHOLD RECREATION DEPARTMENT Monthly Report: December 2019 DECEMBER EVENTS: Santa’s Visit – Santa Claus and his good friend, Jingle, make their annual visit to Town Hall. There was a smaller showing than in years past. This was felt to be caused, in part, to several other community events happening concurrently. While we are very fortunate to see many of the same faces return year after year, are not seeing new visitors to this annual event. Santa’s Mailbox – The Recreation Department teamed up with the Southold Homemakers Club. The Homemakers personalized approximately 12 letters to the youth. The week leading up to the holiday, there was an additional influx of 20 letters from the community. We look forward to working with the Homemakers again next year. th Radio City Christmas Spectacular bus trip- took place on Weds, December 11. th “Do As You Please” Bus Trip – took place on Weds, December 4. WINTER 2020 PROGRAMS: th Registration for Winter programs began on November 21 and is on-going. REGISTRATION SITE: IT Director, Lloyd Reisenberg, and myself conferenced with Kyle from EdmundsGovTech, the company formerly known as BAS. They have made several changes to the site which have adversely affected our registrants. Now all participants need to individually verify their email addresses in order to be able to login. 1,400 accounts are currently unverified. The Recreation Department will be issuing an email blast to inform users on how to verify their accounts. There company will not provide us with a work-around to this issue. During the call, we also requested additional report features so we can collect data that is more useful to our needs including the number of new household accounts and participant registrations. As Edmunds will be taking down remote access to the old registration website, we have also requested a file archive of the our data. Youth Drop-In Night: The Recreation Department in collaboration with the Town of Southold Youth Bureau, offered our first Youth Drop-In Night. This program is free and open to youth in grades 6 through 9. Seventeen youth attended our first event. They enjoyed playing billiards, ping-pong, corn hole as well as board games and arts & crafts. SUMMER 2020 SEASONAL STAFF: Lifeguard Certification Course – We have submitted our facility use request to Peconic Landing in an effort to offer the American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification course again in 2020. Additional information will be forthcoming. RECREATION DEPARTMENT DEPOSITS & EXPENDITURES: Following are copies of our monthly bank statement. Please note that any withdrawals on the bank statement are program refunds for those participants who paid with a credit card. Sincerely, Janet Douglass Recreation Supervisor
