Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971-0959 N4::5 Fax(631) 765-9064 + Telephone (631)765-1809 TO: Elizabeth Neville, Town Clerk (for Distribution to Supervisor Russell and Town Board Members) FROM: Leslie Kanes Weisman,ZBA Chairperson/Department Head RE: COMBINED MONTHLY DEPARTMENT HEAD AND NEW APPLICATIONS/FEES REPORT for: November 2019 DATE: December 12, 2019 L Requires Immediate Attention: Nothing at this time II. Board and Office Policies, Practices, and Activities: Monitoring Installations of IA Wastewater Treatment Systems On October 31, 2019 I met with Town Engineer Michael Collins to discuss when and why the ZBA asks for comments from the Town Engineer regarding certain specific applications before the Board of Appeals, how the ZBA uses those comments, comments and the practical time frame needed for inclusion in ZBA determinations. In addition, I explained when and why the ZBA requires the installation of an IA Wastewater Treatment System as a condition of approval for variance relief. Engineer Collins suggested that it would be very useful to the Town to begin documenting the locations where IA systems have been required so that Town-wide progress could be monitored and tracked. In response, the ZBA staff prepared and submitted to him an Excel spreadsheet that documents ZBA decisions from July 2018 to August 2019 showing 12 properties where IA systems were required to be installed. The ZBA's IA Systems spreadsheet will be continuously updated on a regular basis. In the near future a meeting with Town Trustees, Engineer, LWRP, ZBA, Building, Planning, and GIS will take be scheduled to coordinate the collection and tracking of this data. IH.
