Chapter 209. Architectural Review
Article I. General Provisions
§ 209-1. Findings; purpose; period for review.
C. Time period for review.
(1) The architectural review shall adhere to the following time parameters:
(a) Commence review of all architectural aspects of site plan, project or development
within 30 days or at its next regularly scheduled meeting but not later than 45 days of
referral to the Architectural Review Board.
(2) The review period shall be extended to 120 days if coordinated review with the
Landmarks Preservation Commission set forth in § 105-11 D or a consultant retained
pursuant to § 105-11 B.
§ 209-3. Limitations of review.
A. The Architectural Review Board shall not design or assist in the design of any
buildings or projects submitted for approval. The Board shall restrict its considerations
to a reasonable and professional review of the proposal and plans, leaving full
responsibility for the design and development to the applicant.
§ 209-6. Requirements for plan review.
The proponent shall submit, through the Planning Department, a minimum of two copies
of such drawings as shall clearly represent those structural, topographical and design
features so that the Architectural Review Board can arrive at an evaluation of the
proposed construction, reconstruction, addition or alteration. These plans shall likewise
include structures and significant natural features on abutting properties. The
Architectural Review Board may require such other information and exhibits as it
deems necessary to enable the Board to reach an informed result. That information may
include, but shall not be limited to:

ADOPTS A LOCAL LAW AMENDING CHAPTER 209 ENTITLED
"ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW" OF THE RIVERHEAD TOWN CODE (ARTICLE I.
GENERAL PROVISIONS)
Councilman Hubbard offered the following resolution,
which was seconded by Councilwoman Kent
WHEREAS, the Town Clerk was authorized to publish and post a public notice to
hear all interested persons to consider a local law amending Chapter 209 entitled
"Architectural Review" of the Riverhead Town Code; and
WHEREAS, the Riverhead Planning Department has reviewed the submission
and recommended it be considered a Type II action pursuant to 6NYCRR Part 617.5(c)
(33) adoption of regulations, policies, procedures and local legislative decisions in
connection therewith; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on the 4th day of September, 2019 at 2:15
o'clock p.m. at Riverhead Town Hall, 200 Howell Avenue, Riverhead, New York, the
date, time and place specified in said public notice, and all persons wishing to be heard
were heard.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that a local law amending Chapter 209
entitled "Architectural Review" of the Riverhead Town Code be and is hereby adopted
as specified in the attached notice of adoption; and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk be and is hereby authorized to publish the
attached notice of adoption once in the News Review, the official newspaper, and to
post same on the signboard at Town Hall; and be it further
RESOLVED, that all Town Hall Departments may review and obtain a copy of
this resolution from the electronic storage device, and if needed, a certified copy of
same may be obtained from the Office of the Town Clerk.
