Statement of the effect, if any, on the wetlands and tidal waters of the town that may result by reason of such proposed operations (use attachments if appropriate): The project seeks to replace an existing timber bulkhead situated between two adjoining bulkheads to the east and west with a vinyl bulkhead in the same location to maintain the property's historical method of protection against erosion and flooding. The existing, developed site has been improved with and supported and protected from flooding and erosion by a bulkhead since prior to 1977,and there is no viable non-structural alternative means of maintaining and protecting the upland portion of the property in its current location. Without replacement and maintenance of the bulkhead, the subject and adjacent properties would be exposed to severe erosion, flooding, and damage to the residential structures located thereon. The project will thus effectively maintain the existing conditions along this bulkheaded shoreline without any change in or significant adverse impact on the adjacent unvegetated beach or tidal waters. The project will provide the ecological benefits associated with replacing a treated timber bulkhead with untreated vinyl sheathing and maintaining the existing, covenanted, 10'wide non-turf buffer landward of the bulkhead. 617.20 Appendix B Short Environmental Assessment Form Instructions for Completing Part I-Project Information. The applicant or project sponsor is responsible for the completion of Part 1.Responses become part of the application for approval or funding, are subject to public review, and may be subject to further verification.
