2019 SUMMER SEASONAL STAFF: The summer season wrapped up on Monday, September 2nd.
While great efforts were made to recruit as many lifeguards as possible for the season, many had
limited availability and the vast majority had to leave early for college. The Recreation Department
will explore additional ways to increase interest in lifeguarding for next year.
BEACH FACILITIES:
At the conclusion of the beach season, DPW secured the bathroom facilities with the exception of
Goose Creek. The Southold School District has requested use of this facility for their October 18th
Life on the Peconic Estuary program. The landlines that are located at each of the beaches have
been placed on temporary suspension for the winter season in order to save money.
ONLINE REGISTRATION SYSTEM UPDATE:
Weare approaching the one-year anniversary of our new mobile friendly registration system. While
the system is very user friendly on the front end, there are some minor bugs that are still be working
out. IT Director, Lloyd Reisenberg, and myself are working with the company to iron out some of the
issues. We are also requesting that the company incorporate additional reporting features that would
be useful to the needs of the Town of Southold
