No Work Session
Regular Meeting Called to Order: 4:05pm
Attendees: Chairman Webb, Vice Chairman Surchin, Robert Harper, Jamie Garretson, Jim
Grathwohl and Donald Feiler.
Also present: Town Attorney John Burke and Administrative Assistant Tracey Dwyer.
Quorum present.
Approval of Minutes: Approval of August 6, 2019 meeting minutes.

Motion to approve by Robert Harper, 2 by Donald Feiler, AYES: Chairman Webb, Vice
Chairman Surchin, Robert Harper, Jamie Garretson, Jim Grathwohl and Donald Feiler.
Budget/ YTD Expense Report.
4:20 Public Hearing:
Jeffrey Shayne: 20 Vincent Street, Orient, NY, 11957
(SCTM#1000-26.-1-6)
• Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness of a proposed roof replacement.
• Commission unanimously decided that a decision will be postponed until
the September 17, 2019 meeting.
4:35 Request for Recommendations:
460 Oyster Ponds Lane LLC (Ffolliott)
(SCTM#1000-24.-1-4)
• Request for recommendations for an alteration project proposed at 510 Oyster
Ponds
• Commission reviewed alteration plans and found that the proposed project was
appropriate for the Orient Historic District.

Unfinished Business
1. Landmarks Request for 22445 Main Road Cutchogue.
Motion to approve adding the Smith Residence @ 22445 Main Road, Cutchogue,
NY 11935. (SCTM# 1000-109.-1-7.1) to the Southold Town Registry of Historic
Landmarks by Jamie Garretson, 2nd James Grathwohl Harper, and AYES:
Chairman Webb, Vice Chairman Surchin, Robert Harper, James Grathwohl, Jamie
Garretson and Donald Feiler.
• A presentation will be scheduled at a future Town Board Meeting to
designate The Smith Residence as an official Landmarked Property.
2. Commission approved the final draft of the updated Application for a Certificate of
Appropriateness.
3. Town Comprehensive Plan Update.
• Commissioners shared concerns about how the Historic Preservation
Commission is being represented in the Town Comprehensive Plan.
• Commissioners will develop a written proposal of ideas to present to the
Planning department before the drafted plan is finalized.
• Upon the request of Chairman Webb, Jamie Garretson agreed to Chair a
committee to address the Town Comprehensive Plan.

New Business
1. Holly Sanford, Project Manager for Peconic Land Trust, spoke briefly about her
involvement in historic preservation.
2. Commissioners would like to address possible future public informational presentations
to increase historic preservation awareness.
