HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/18/2019 Town of Southold Historic Preservation Commission Meeting Minutes Tuesday, June 18, 2019 Town Hall Annex Executive Board Room Work Session: 3:00 p.m. Quorum present Discussions: 1. Reviewed new application requesting Landmarks status @ 22445 Main Road, Cutchogue, NY, 11935. -Determined that research on the property is further needed. -If parcel is on SPLIA , then it is automatically granted Landmarks status. -All agreed that a Commission member will need to set up an appointment with the owner to do a site inspection of property. 2. Agreed to revise the application form of obtaining a Certificate of Appropriateness. 3. Reviewed new HPC pamphlet and will motion for approval in regular meeting. 4. Evan Lewis Shed Construction -In response to a complaint that the structure appeared to be higher than the approved 12' 7” height, a building inspection was scheduled. (NOTE: Following the meeting staff arranged for building inspection: Inspection was performed and it was found that the shed height is in compliance.) 1 Town of Southold Historic Preservation Commission Meeting Minutes Tuesday, June 18, 2019 Town Hall Annex Executive Board Room Regular Meeting: 4:00 pm Attendees: Chairman Webb, Vice Chairman Surchin, Robert Harper, Jamie Garretson, Joe McCarthy and Donald Feiler. Also present: Town Attorney John Burke, Town Historian Amy Folk and Administrative Assistant Tracey Dwyer. Absent: Commissioner James Grathwohl. Quorum present. Approval of Minutes: Approval of June 4, 2019 minutes. nd Motion to approve minutes by Jamie Garretson, 2 by Vice Chairman Surchin, AYES: Chairman Webb, Vice Chairman Surchin, Robert Harper, Jamie Garretson, Joe McCarthy and Donald Feiler. Budget/ YTD Expense Report: No changes New Business 1. Note that all media inquiries are to be forwarded to Commission Chairman. 2. Acknowledged and congratulated Robert Harper for securing the National and State Register status establishing the East Marion Main Road National Historic District. 3. Karen Doherty, member of Greenport Historic Preservation Commission was welcomed as a visitor. She indicated interest in collaborating with the Southold HPC to share similar interests and procedures. 4:10 pm: Pre-Submission Conference: 460 Oyster Ponds Lane LLC: 510 Oyster Pond Ln., Orient, NY, 11957 (SCTM#1000-24.-1-4.1) • Presented by Architect Fred Weber and owner Ann Ffolliott. • Presented alteration to a single family dwelling to include dormers, window replacement, shed roof addition and side gable mudroom, as well as the removal of the existing north garage and moving existing south garage to a new location. 2 • Recommendations were shared and it was agreed to schedule a public hearing for the July 16th, 2019 meeting. . Unfinished Business: 1. Historic Preservation Commission Pamphlet Motion to approve new Historic Preservation Commission Pamphlet with the agreed modifications by Robert Harper, 2nd by Joe McCarthy, AYES: Chairman Webb, Vice Chair Surchin, Jamie Garretson, Joe McCarthy, Robert Harper and Donald Feiler. Motion Approved Unanimously 2. Gather past research information on the proposed landmarks nominated homes. New Business: 1. Can a time limit be established for the completion of a the Certificate of Appropriateness? (To be revisited). nd Motion to enter Executive Session @ 4:40 pm by Robert Harper, 2 by Jamie Garretson, AYES: Approved unanimously. Motion to exit Executive Session: Robert Harper, 2nd by Jamie Garretson, AYES: Approved unanimously. Exit out of Executive Session: 6pm.
