Masonry work of the chimney started August 29 and was stopped by the Building Inspector the some day. The owner supplied a photo of the excavated situation prior to pouring concrete and I checked the cut lines in the existing concrete floor and provided photos, all of which are attached to this letter: The size of the footing for the fireplace is 3'-4"x 6'-0"-the depth is 1'-6". The size of the chimney is approximately 4"smaller all around: 2'-8"x 5'-4". Depth and size of the poured footing is adequate to support the chimney construction. FOUNDATION WALL DAMPPROOFING The dampproofing of the crawl space foundation wall for the addition is a bituminous coating-directly applied to the masonry -which extends from the finish grade to the top of the footing.
