HomeMy WebLinkAboutLP-09/03/2019 LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING Minutes & Discussion Notes from Meeting held Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Town Hall Annex Executive Board Room Members Present: Sam McCullough, Chairperson Anne Murray Lillian Ball Eric Keil Members Absent: Doris McGreevy John Simicich Will Lee Also present: Melissa Spiro, Land Preservation Coordinator Melanie Doroski, Land Preservation Secretary LeRoy Heyliger, Mattituck resident Benja Schwartz, Cutchogue resident Commencement  The meeting began at 7:06 p.m. with four LPC members present. Committee Minutes and Administration  Acceptance of LPC meeting minutes from July23, 2019 MOTION made by Eric Keil, seconded by Sam McCullough, to accept the 7/23/2019 LPC meeting minutes. Motion carried: 4/0  Next Regular LPC Meeting Date The next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17, 2019. Land Preservation Applications & Potential Applications MOTION made by Eric Keil, seconded by Sam McCullough, to enter into EXECUTIVE SESSION - Proposed Acquisitions of Real Property Where Publicity Would Substantially Affect the Value Thereof Motion carried: 4/0 The LPC members entered in EXECUTIVE SESSION at 7:35 p.m. Land Preservation Coordinator gave updates on inquiries, new applications, appraisals and current applications. MOTION made by Eric Keil, seconded by Sam McCullough, to end Executive Session. Motion carried: 4/0 EXECUTIVE SESSION ENDED at 8:38 p.m. MOTION made by Sam McCullough, seconded by Lillian Ball, to direct Land Preservation Coordinator Melissa Spiro to present to the Town Board the DEC’s letter regarding two proposed projects being considered by NYS DEC for acquisition and to request that the Town Board send an official letter to NYS DEC stating the Town has no objection in regard to the proposed DEC potential property acquisitions that were discussed while in Executive Session. (Motion No. 2019-13) Motion carried: 4/0 Inquiries for Uses or Structures on Preserved Property None Stewardship and Management: None General Land Preservation Items:  SOUTHOLD TOWN COMPREHENSIVE PLAN Update: informational meetings Land Preservation Coordinator Melissa Spiro gave a quick update regarding the Comp Plan Informational Meetings and some of the questions raised regarding land preservation. Addition to Agenda:  SCTM #1000-140.-1-6 (REEVE) LeRoy Heyliger and Benja Schwartz addressed the LPC Committee about preserving the Reeve Property (SCTM #1000-140.-1-6) that is approximately 5+ acres located at the head of Mattituck Creek. This property recently was granted a change in zone by the Town Board and is currently before the Planning Board for a proposed standard subdivision. As they had before at the April 2, 2019 LPC meeting, the LPC explained that the Town’s land preservation program is a voluntary program and the landowner, at this time, has not shown any interest in selling this land to the Town for preservation purposes. Adjournment: MOTION made by Eric Keil, seconded by Sam McCullough, to adjourn this meeting.
