Nicholas Krupski on September 15, 2019. The Board of Trustees determined that the two dead trees located by the creek may be removed at this time and that the other trees may be pruned, but not removed. No permit will be required in order to remove the dead tree and to trim others. The ground work on the understory and additional tree removal will require an Administrative permit. Any other activity within 100' of the wetland boundary requires a permit from this office. This is not a determination from any other agency. If you have any questions, please call our office at (631) 765-1892. Sincerely, Michael J. We bought the property knowing that many of the trees on it had been neglected over the years and would require some level of remediation-in orderto make it-safe for our friends and family, many of whom have young children. We brought Jonathan Shipman in from Shamrock Tree Company to assess the health and safety of our trees. It turns out many require work/removal more urgently than we had initially realized. We would therefore like to proceed with this work as soon as possible. Since this is a creek-front property, and since many of our trees are within 100 feet of the water,Jonathan advised us to seek a permit before proceeding. When we called your office to find out which permit we should apply for, we were asked how many trees required work. Since we didn't get to this level of detail with Jonathan, our guess was somewhere between five and fifty. Given the uncertainty around tree count, it was recommended by your office that we arrange a pre-submission visit with you to determine the type of permit we needed to file. Enclosed is the$50 fee for this purpose,to be applied to our ultimate permit fee when the type is known. We are out most weekends and are happy to meet up with you if you are available on the weekends. Alternatively, you are welcome to walk the property on your own or meet up with Jonathan during the week if easier. We would appreciate if you could let us know how you would like to proceed.
