Meeting #136
May 2, 2019
Present: Rona Smith, Denis Noncarrow, Eric Dantes, Patricia Lutzky.
Debra O’Kane, excused.
Prospective new members in attendance: Marilyn Sierra, Nancy Messer, Mark Levine
Observers: Sarah Nappa, Bob Hanlon
Meeting began at 4:30 p.m.
1. Approval of March 21, 2019 Meeting minutes tabled due to lack of quorum.
2. Introduction of new administrative secretary to HAC - Valerie DeFio
3. Town Board proposal pending to reduce HAC membership from original ten –
member compliment to seven members.
4. Introduction of proposed new members of HAC:
a. Marilyn Sierra – North Fork Housing Alliance
b. Nancy Messer – Commercial Lending Specialist for Bridgehampton National
Bank
c. Mark Levine – Attorney, specializing in Zoning
Discussion:
5. Proposed Thiele Legislation Peconic Region Community Housing Fund.
a. funding for Affordable Housing, - .5% added to CPF
b. Revised legislation - Summary of Bridgehampton meeting,
April 23, 2019
c. Timetable for referendum/ adoption, up for consideration in Albany, 2019
session. Southold referendum, November 2019.
6. Discussion: Use of money in Affordable Housing Fund + plus potential new funds.
a. Brainstorming ideas to maximize effectiveness of money spent. – Have not
received money from Harvest Pointe development in Cutchogue.
b. Eric Dante to put together RFP to come up financial plan for how to use
funds.
c. Look at other financial possibilities such as Grants for Affordable Housing.
Rona encouraged board to come up with ideas on how to use the money.
7. Discussion: Suffolk Times article detailing Vineyard View eligibility – Generated a lot
of interest. People contacting Town to be included in registry. Pat Lutsky mentioned
that the income levels will be appropriate for many employees at Peconic Landing
whose incomes fit within these parameters.
8. Discussion: New Business – Town Purchased land in hamlet of Peconic to build a
sports complex. Room for Affordable Housing on site?
Next Meeting Scheduled for June 6, 2019 @ 4:30 pm in the Library of Peconic Landing.
