HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/18/2018 Town of Southold Housing Advisory Commission Meeting Minutes MEETING #130 January 18th, 2018 Present: Rona Smith, Denis Noncarrow, Debra O’Kane, Michael Herbert, Eric Dantes, William Dougherty, Patricia Lutzky and Councilman James Dinizio. One community member in attendance: Mr. Skip Olsen of Riverhead Building Supply. Meeting began at 4:30 p.m. August, September and November meeting minutes approved. I. Discussed the details of the developing multi-family affordable rental project, “Vineyard Views”. Attached is an overview of the progressing community. II. Explained why Conifer has been chosen as the potential developer of this rental project. a. Conifer has had prior successes with similar projects. b. Conifer has the funding and ability to solve and complete the project from beginning to end. c. Community member voiced his knowledge of the competence of Conifer. d. Conifer agrees to coordinate with the town in developing an eligibility list that will later go to a lottery process. III. Explained how the Tax Credit Program works for this type of rental project. Attached is an overview of the Federal Tax Credit Program process. IV. Identified possible issues that the community will raise about the “Vineyard Views” affordable rental project. a. Increase in School enrollment can yield a possible 16 to 28 new students, however this number is projected to be distributed among all grades having minimal impact. b. How will taxes be affected? V. To address any questions and concerns the Housing Advisory Committee intends to schedule a future public forum after the project application has been approved.
