SUMMER 2019 RECREATION PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES: The brochure will be an insert in the Thursday, May 9th edition of The Suffolk Times. Programs currently being planned for the summer season include the following: Summer Concert Series Swimming Lessons NY Mets vs Padres Bus Trip Little Scholars Club NY Yankees vs Toronto Blue Jays Bus Trip Krafts for Kids Classic Body Sculpting/Aerobics Homemade Peach Jam Making Pilates, Yoga & Power Stretching Canning Roasted Tomatoes Tai Chi Plein Air Painting Qi Gong Mah Jongg Weight Training Intro to Drawing Walk 15 Aerobics Smart Driver AARP Hatha Yoga Defensive Driving Chair Yoga Drawing for Intermediates Senior Fitness & Exercise AARP Smart Driver Pickleball: 101 & 102 Defensive Driving Golf Lessons CPR Ballroom/Latin Dancing Lifeguard Re-Certification Tennis Lessons: Adult & Youth Line Dancing - NEW Dog Obedience Adult Basketball-Open Gym - NEW Equestrian & Pony Camp 2019 BATHING BEACH OPERATING PERMIT RENEWAL APPLICATIONS: We are in receipt of our 2019 Bathing Beach Operating Permits for the Suffolk County Department of Health Services. Permits will be hung at our six bathing beaches prior to the official opening on Sat. June 22nd. 2019 SUMMER SEASONAL STAFF: The majority of our staff will be returning from last year. Interviews will be held on May 7th and May 8th for new applicants to fill any vacancies. To date, we have not received any applications for water safety instructors. A resolution will be written to re- advertise for the positions. LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS: Two certification courses were planned for April at Peconic Landing. Several days before the first class was to take place, we were notified that the pool would not be ready for use. Most of the participants that were registered were moved to the second class. Our instructor, Peggy Tuttle, was gracious enough to accommodate anyone who could not take the second course in classes that she offers further west. In total 27 youth received their training, (23) Peconic Landing and an additional (4) at the School of Fish. RECREATION DEPARTMENT DEPOSITS & EXPENDITURES: Following are copies of our monthly bank statement. Please note that any withdrawals on the bank statement are program refunds for those participants who paid with a credit card.
