Statement of the effect, if any, on the wetlands and tidal waters of the town that may result by reason of such proposed operations (use attachments if appropriate): The intended effect of the proposed emergency measure until a long term repair plan for the existing concrete seawall can be designed and fully permitted is the prevention of additional erosional loss of upland embankment material from behind the storm damaged easterly end of the seawall, which would lead to the structural integrity of the remaining seawall being further compromised,in turn creating a greater risk of more avulsive structural damage and erosion. The proposed toe armor stone, which will be placed landward of the existing seawall, should achieve this intended effect without causing adverse impacts on the adjacent beach or tidal waters of Gardiners Bay or the neighboring Suffolk County property to the east, whose concrete seawall has been significantly damaged in connection with severe embankment erosion on that property as well. pard of Trustees Applicat COASTAL EROSION APPLICATION DATA Purposes of proposed activity. Box 1179 Southold, NY 11971 Re: Joseph Minetti,2500 Point Road, OrientDear Mr. Domino: aroTru Consistent with the Board's guidance provided during a field inspection of the captioned property on November 7, 2018, please find enclosed an application for an Emergency Permit to address the exigent circumstances associated with the storm-damaged concrete seawall and erosion of the embankment behind it. Specifically, the severe erosion and substantial loss of upland material behind the seawall has placed it in imminent danger of more extensive structural failure, particularly if the embankment is not stabilized and the erosion stemmed. Therefore, proposed as an emergency measure is the placement of approximately 16 linear feet of 1 - 3 ton stone toe armor over a bed of 6" - 12" stone on filter fabric along the base of the embankment landward of the storm-damaged section of seawall, as depicted on the project plan prepared by Vachris Engineering, dated April 2, 2019. The proposed stone will be transported to the site via upland and installed on filter cloth along the base of the storm-eroded embankment using heavy equipment. The intended effect of the stone placement until a long term repair plan for the existing seawall can be designed and fully permitted is the prevention of additional erosional loss of upland material from behind the storm damaged portion of seawall, which would lead to the structural integrity of the remaining seawall being further compromised, in turn creating a greater risk of more avulsive structural damage and erosion. Should you have any questions or require any additional information in support of our application and request for expedition, please let me know, and I thank you in advance for your cooperation and attention to this matter.
