The total is about.88 boats serviced while the number is down from pervious years I feel it is the result of the town's participation with the new pump-out boat. Being a water front business that depends on the water quality of the Peconic estuary-we appreciate your purchase and expense in operating-such it is a pleasure to provide you with dockage. FEES: None Very truly yours Albert J. Krupski, Jr. President,Board of Trustees AJK/cjc cc DEC PO Box 745 -495 Eugene Road Cutchogue,NY 11935 March 21.,2003,'l, - Southold-Town.T _ rustees Town Hall _. . Southold,NY 11971 , Dear Southold Town Trustees, I was unable to attend the hearing concerning the building of boat racks by the New Suffolk Shipyard. There are a few comments that I would like to make on behalf of myself,Anne O'Brien Watson, and Richard and Sandra Gannon. We collectively own the lot and docks to the Northeast of the proposed boat storage racks. I have been using Schoolhouse Creek for over 50 years and I have worked for and done business with the New Suffolk Shipyard during the last 30 years: It is a wonderful small scale boatyard in a very special small town. The addition of boat racks would be an immediate eysore, as anyone who has looked around the Port of Egypt area would agree. The other concern is the noise and congestion of the Hi/Lo storage system. I have witnessed;the system at,work in boatyards in Florida. It is noisy and can be dangerous when everyone is in a hurry. The small entrance channel to Schoolhouse Creek is another factor that makes the additional storage racks a bad idea. I and the other owners of neighboring, property plan'to be at the May 1 Trustees meeting. _ Sincerely, Frederic B. Endemann DECE MAR 2 6 2003 Southold Town Board of Trustees To: Lydia A. Tortora, Chairwoman, Zoning Board of Appeals From: Bennet Orlowski Jr., Chairman, Planning Board Re: New Suffolk Shipyard Application# 5149 SCTM: 1000-117-05-29.1 Date: March 11,2003 The Planning Board reviewed this matter at its Work Session on March 10,2003, and offers the following comments: The applicant proposes two boat storage racks, 26 ft in height, and located in the side yard at less than the required 20' setback. The storage rack on the southerly side of the property is located in close proximity to the existing building, and will not be intrusive. The second storage rack, along the northerly property line, and setback 5 feet, will be landscaped by the applicant. This appears adequate, in light of the actual uses occurring on the abutting property. The Planning Board further reviewed the proposed site plan, the landscaping plan, and the applicant's description of the proposed operation with the applicant and his Attorney. The Planning Board reviewed the availability of adequate parking(83 spaces) for both the current marina operation, and the additional boat storage racks, and feels that because of the seasonal usage of the boat racks, and the local nature of this marina where many customers walk to the facility, sufficient parking can be accommodated on site. Note was made of the area wide shortage of boat slips, and that storage racks of this type help alleviate this overall shortage. Such uses are now common to marinas in the area.
