SPRING 2019 BROCHURE:
Spring registration opened on Thursday, March 7th. The new registration system worked well. We
saw a significant amount of online registrations processed through the new system on opening day.
SUMMER 2019 BROCHURE:
Preparations are being made for our summer programs. Returning instructors have been mailed the
worksheets and have been asked to confirm their schedules by April 19th. The brochure will be an
insert in the May 9th edition of the Suffolk Times.
2019 BATHING BEACH PERMIT RENEWAL APPLICATIONS:
Our
They were completed and returned to the County.
LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION COURSE:
The winners of the John & Kim Skinner Lifeguard certification course were chosen by the donors.
The Skinners decided to award two scholarship instead of just the one that was initially promoted.
The Skinners felt both Luke Altman and Madeleine Jimenez were worthy of the scholarship.
Congratulations to Luke and Madeleine!
The East End Seaport Museum has graciously offered to extend the deadline of their scholarship
opportunity until April 10th. Responses to both this scholarship and the Skinner Scholarship have
been very low. We hope in the future if such opportunities are available to youth to be able to
promote them earlier, in hopes of getting more responses.
The April 6th & April 7th Lifeguard Certification is full. 15 youth are registered. Several of these
youth have also expressed interest in employment with the Town of Southold. This course is a great
opportunity to capture potential employees early in hopes of ensuring coverage for the summer
season. Registrations are still being accepted for the April 19th and April 20th course. Both of these
courses come together on June 17th for their certification test.
2019 BEACH SEASON:
Returning employee applications were mailed out to those who showed exemplary service in 2018.
They were asked to respond by March 15th. To date, eight beach attendants, fifteen lifeguards, our
Assistant Beach Manager and Beach Manager have confirmed their return. Advertisements were
approved to run in the Suffolk Times in an effort to recruit additional lifeguards and swim instructors to
fill vacancies.
