Upon request of the Southold Town Building Department, I made inspection of these premises and found the following violations of Chapter 52, Housing Code, T own of Southold. Tenants occupy buildings and inspections were made on two different days due to availability of tenants. On November 30th at approximately 3:15 P.M. inspection was made of cottage, one story framed on slab. Tenant's name is William De Dolchow who accompanied me during inspection. This building consists of living room and kitchen combina- tion, bedroom and full bathroom. Building is heated with gas space heater. Kitchen: Gas Range, no shut-off valve at unit. Sec. 52-52 B.z. Bathroom: Missing windowpane, plywood nailed over outside of window frame. Sec. 52-31 B. Electric service is supplied from service box located in cellar of main building. Conductor passes overhead from main building and is a #14-2 wire intended for interior wiring. Sec. 52-56. A.t(National Electric Code - Article 230 - Services- 230-3-4-5-23) Inspection completed at approximately 3:35 P.M. On December 7th at approximately 9:35 A.M.inspection was made of one story framed building on front part of lot. Tenant is Leonard Green. Mr. Green accompanied me on inspection. Building consists of two bedrooms, living room, bathroom and enclosed front porch which is divided into two sections: Housing Code Inspection December 7, 1973 South end of porch is being used as sleeping quarters. Building is heated with a forced warm air furnace located in full section of partial cellar w/ one floor register in hall. Living Room: Lamp cord outlets. Sec. 52-56 A-1. Porch: Section used as sleeping quarters outlets. Sec. 52-56 B.2o lamp cord Bathroom: Water supply pipe to toilet leaking causing wet spot on bathroom flooring. Sec. 52-51 A.2. Cellar: Bottom step of stair loose and deteriorating. See 52-30 A - Gas Hot Water Heater- smoke pipe runs through hole provided in wood structure of building. Sec. 52-55 A. Leak in hot water pipe at elbow over and to left of hot water heater. Sec. 52-51 A.z. Electric switch above doorway to front section of full cellar, no switch plate. Sec. 52-56 A-1. Drains from kitchen sink and washing machine (laundry) connected to plastic pipes and run through foundation wall to cesspool- no sewer line or water seal. (Mr. Green commented: on one occasion cesspool backed up into laundry washing machine). Sec. 52-51 D-1 D-1. Entire building contains odor associated with cesspool. Sewage lines in crawl space portion of foundation - no evidence of house trap. Exterior: east (rear side) of building: siding does not cover structural frame members on foundation wall. Some sections of plate rotted. Sec. 52-30 C. Accessory Building in rear: roof not completely shingled. Inside roofer boards show signs of deteriorating. Sec. 52-31 C- 52-62 B. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in triplicate to the Building Inspector with the following; for new buildings or new use: I. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and unusual natural or topographic features. 2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal--(S-9 form ar equal). 3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters. 4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and installations, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for the building. 5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable. B. For existing buildings (prior to April 195;7), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing" land uses: 1. Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural or topographic features. 2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings. 3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinent in- formation required to prepare a certificate. C. Fees: 1. Certificate of occupancy $5.00 2.
