TOWN OF SOUTHOLD
RECREATION DEPARTMENT
Monthly Report: January 2019
SPRING 2019 BROCHURE:
Spring registration begins on Thursday, March 7th of the Suffolk Times. The contracts are on the
agenda for the Feb. 26th Board Meeting.
BUS TRIPS:
The Recreation Department will be offering two bus trips to both the NY Mets and NY Yankees. The
tickets are in the process of being secured and quotes have been requested from several companies.
Once final plans are made, the details will be posted on our registration portal.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH:
In an effort to recruit employees for the 2019 Beach Season, I attended the job fairs that were held at
Southold (1/23) and Mattituck (1/15) High Schools. I also will be attending the Greenport High
School job fair that is scheduled for February 5th. Information about employment opportunities for
lifeguards and our Lifeguard Certification Course was provided to youth.
LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION COURSE:
The 2019 Lifeguard Certification Courses are scheduled. I was able to secure a scholarship
opportunity for one local youth thanks to the generosity of Kim and John Skinner. Mrs. & Mrs.
Skinner heard of the course and the need for lifeguards and graciously offered to cover the cost of the
course for the recipient. Anyone who is interested in applying should contact the Skinner’s directly at
JSkinner@optonline.net, deadline for applications is March 15th.
Information about the course and scholarship have been distributed to local high schools, on social
media, and to local PTA/PTO organizations.
RECREATION DEPARTMENT DEPOSITS & EXPENDITURES: Following are copies of our monthly

those participants who paid with a credit card.
