Southold Town Anti-bias Task Force Committee Meeting Minutes
December 17,2018
In attendance: Emily Geiger, Eleanor Lingo,Christopher North, LeRoy Heyliger,Valerie Shelby,Cindy
Smith, David Shultz, Dennis NonCarrow,Trustee Ruland,Sonia Spar and Carolyn Peabody
Excused: Marjorie Day,Susan Dingle and Jean LePre

1. Minutes are approved without any changes.
2. Term limits are discussed for members. March will be the start of new terms.
3. Discussion MLK Program: Theme this year is Unity in the Community. A motion is made by
Chris seconded by Emily to include reading from the letter from the Birmingham jail as well as
excerpt from I have a Dream Speech.
4. ABTF will begin to develop a draft for a resource for scheduling for volunteering for a day of
service MLK day and beyond.
5. There is a review of 2018 reflections for 2019 for all members present. Some items brought up
are; more education for the community re:Social justice and be inclusive and accepting as well
as bring the community together.
6. Minutes must include attendance. it is decided to have a three month commitment to be note
taker. Cindy will do through February. Emily will do March through May and David will do June
through August.
7. Our guest Catherine Crook is a semi-retired floral designer and attended the Erase Racism
forum.
8. The town will reach out to committee members to address membership.
9. Read Synagogue letter re:police outreach.
